5 Reasons Yuppies Will Love Living In The Fort

If you haven’t been to Bonifacio Global City in the Fort, then you’ve been working too hard. It is one of the most dynamic areas in Metro Manila — dubbed the next capital central business district because of the number of multinationals and embassies that now hold office there. Aside from its growing pedigree in business it is also a happening place — filled with some of the trendiest restaurants, bars and boutiques.

It could also be your next home address.

Think about it: if you’re going to invest your hard-earned money in a condo unit, you might as well pick a place you will love. It will make those monthly amortizations easier to live with!

Here are 5 reasons why you’ll love living at The Fort.

1. It will impress the girls… and everyone else

You can now include “you should check out the view from my condo” in your list of winning pickup lines. But kidding aside, a prestigious location not only gives you a million pogi points, but also makes it easier to rent out or sell your condo in the future. You won’t have trouble finding a roommate to help share your monthly costs, since the Fort is so close to offices. Which brings us to the second reason…

2.  You can sleep longer on work nights

The days of spending two hours stuck on EDSA traffic or waking up at 5:00 a.m. so you can ride the MRT before it gets crammed to the gills are finally over. The Fort’s strategic location, just 20 minutes away from Makati and Ortigas, allows you to set the later alarms and even hit the snooze button a couple of times. There is access to public transportation (you can walk to the bus stops!), or if you have a car, you can rest assured that the Fort’s intelligent design prevents the bumper-to-bumper traffic that clogs the rest of Makati.

3.  The party is never far away

Celebrate the end of a long work week at any of the restaurants, cafes, and bars in the Fort. Enjoy a round of beers (or two!) with your friends, treat your date to authentic Italian pasta and a chilled bottle of wine, or read a book while sipping a cappuccino at one of the al fresco tables of the corner patisserie.

You can throw a dinner party at home. Buy a cookbook at one of the largest bookstores in the city, and perfect your culinary skills in your kitchen. Don’t worry, nobody can mess up a Caesar salad, and everything tastes better when served with the view of the city skyline.

Bonifacio Global City also organizes cultural and recreational events, like free concerts or holiday specials like Halloween trick or treating or Easter egg hunts. McKinley Hill at Megaworld at the Fort is known for staging cool concerts and outdoor performances.

Bonifacio Global City is also a popular venue for product launches, workshops, and trade events. There are also museums and craft classes offered by the schools and toy stores in the area–in other words, many ways to enjoy your weekend without leaving your expanded backyard.

4.  You’ll lose weight

All the partying and cooking can do serious damage to your waistline. But no worries — one of the perks of living in the Fort area is that you don’t need a gym membership to get fit. It’s a favorite meeting place for joggers, and you can either join an existing group or form one of your own! In a few months you may even be ready to join the fun runs that are frequently held there.

5. It’s part of your early retirement fund

Bonifacio Global City is one of the most rapidly developing areas in Metro Manila. The property values will definitely increase over the next few years, especially since it is emerging as a premiere business address (one of your newest neighbors will be the Philippine Stock Exchange). Hotels are going to be built there, and Megaworld has recently unveiled plans to develop a township with recreational, business, and residential districts – a showcase of the company’s Live.Work.Play.Learn.Shop urban planning philosophy.

Your condo will be fun to live in right now, but ten, twenty or forty years from now it can be a source of retirement income. You can sell it, rent it out, or take pride in how the increased value of your property adds to your total lifetime fortune.

In many ways, it makes sense to invest in a condo right now.

Interest rates are low, it’s easy to find financing for your loan, and putting your earnings in monthly payments is a better way to beat inflation than leaving it in a bank.

Yuppies also have another advantage: age and freedom. You have years to pay off your loan, and have no other financial obligations (it’s not like you’re putting a child through college right now). There’s no better time to make an investment that you will enjoy every day, that will already give you great quality of life, and that will inevitably support you through your golden years. Now that’s one thing to toast to when you celebrate your first party in your condo! Cheers!
